"Them Some Giant Snakes" October 20, 2013

A little something I whipped up after seeing this piece done by HodariNundu:

This is meant to draw attention away from Titanoboa. Yes, it is still probably the biggest. But by God people do not shut up about it. So here it is compared to other colossal snakes. From top to bottom:

-Bluff Downs Giant Python, Liasis dubudingala, 30ft (largest of its genus)
-Patagonian Megaboa, Madtsoia bai, 35ft (largest of its genus)
-Chubut Boa, Chubutophis grandis, 39ft? The dotted lines show other size estimates at 49ft and 66ft
-Puppy-Faced Constrictor, Gigantophis garstini, 36ft, speculatively based on an elephant's trunk snake
-Titanic Boa, Titanoboa cerrejonensis, 43ft? Some size estimates give it up to 49ft.
-Barbados Threadsnake (the smallest extant snake), Leptophylops cariae, 4in
-Reticulated Python (the longest extant snake), Python reticulatus, tentatively put at 28ft
-Mali Water Snake, Palaeophis colossaeus, 30ft (largest of its genus)

Other runner-ups were Morelia riversleighensis (20ft), Wonambi naracoortensis (16ft), Pterosphenus schucherti (20ft), and Yurlunggur camfieldensis (20ft).

Is there any actual evidence for the 'puppy-faced'ness?
